What's on the Exam?

The PMP exam assesses a candidate's proficiency in project management across five key domains:

  1. Initiating (13%) - Tasks related to defining and authorizing a project or project phase.

  2. Planning (24%) - Tasks involved in developing the project management plan, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, and procurement management plans.

  3. Executing (31%) - Tasks related to performing the work defined in the project management plan and managing project resources.

  4. Monitoring and Controlling (25%) - Tasks focused on tracking, reviewing, and regulating the progress and performance of the project.

  5. Closing (7%) - Tasks associated with finalizing all project activities to formally close the project or project phase.

Eligibilty :

 

To be eligible for the PMP certification exam, candidates must fulfill one of the following sets of requirements:

  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) along with at least three years of project management experience, comprising 4,500 hours leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of project management education.

  • A secondary diploma (high school or equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, comprising 7,500 hours leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of project management education.

Candidates can apply for the PMP certification exam online through the PMI website. The application requires detailed information about the candidate's educational background, project management experience, and project management education. Additionally, candidates must agree to adhere to PMI's code of ethics and professional conduct. Upon approval of the application, candidates can schedule and take the PMP exam at designated testing centers.
